It all started with a family fighting for their daughter. In 1946, Marge and Jim Bristow welcomed their daughter Mary Carol into the world. Mary Carol was born with Cerebral Palsy, and the Bristows began searching for treatment options. They built a network of parents facing the same challenges and dedicated themselves to advocating for their children.
Founded in 1956
Marge and Jim Bristow were instrumental in founding the Dayton Chapter of United Cerebral Palsy in 1956. That foundation has grown into what is now United Rehabilitation Services of Greater Dayton, serving more than 1,100 children and adults with disabilities every year.
Today, URS provides a full continuum of care across the lifespan, from infancy through the senior years. We are located at 4710 Old Troy Pike in Dayton, where our “one-stop” campus brings childcare, education, therapies, day programs, employment services, and on-site nursing all under one roof.
We follow a person-centered approach in everything we do, focusing on what is important to and for each individual. We are proud to be CARF International accredited, Gold-Rated under Ohio’s Step Up to Quality Program, and the only provider in the state with on-site nursing and integrated therapies in a childcare setting.
Every rubber duck adopted in the Regatta. Every sponsor dollar. Every volunteer hour. They all come back to this place, where we get to help people like Jakiya grow, learn, and reach their full potential.
